Jeffrey Kreher

Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Jeff is both a Sox and a Cardinals fan. He is a board certified Primary Care Sports Medicine specialist, Internist, and Pediatrician. He has a varied education including time at the Air Force Academy, St. Louis, and Stuttgart, Germany. His medicine career has included: a year as Chief Resident of Med/Peds at Indiana University, one of the largest and oldest Med/Peds residencies, four years in community practice, and his Sports Medicine specialty training at Boston University.

His interests are primarily the care of the young athlete and exercise promotion for the prevention of chronic adult diseases (i.e. cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity). He serves as a reviewer for Sports Health and sits on the Education and Publications Committees for the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine (AMSSM). In addition, he will be co-chair of AMSSM's first position paper covering ADHD and the athlete.

Dr. Jeff is a former high-level soccer player before settling into triathlons. He has raced Ironman Lake Placid in addition to working multiple marathon and Ironman medical tents (including Kona). His approach to Sports Medicine is non-pharmacologic and focused on biomechanical analysis of injury cause and prevention. He is goal for athletes is maximizing performance through a team approach and proper balance of endurance, strength, nutrition, sports psychology, and health maintenance. He is available for consultation to team members and sees patients at the Assembly Square Sports Medicine facility in Somerville and the Orthopedic Department at Cambridge Hospital.
